What Can an Association Do For Me? Associations can help set standards to adhere to, help provide educational benefits and research information. Associations can help present a united front, as well as being an indicator of representation. They can keep you apprised of trends, changes in industry standards, as well as keeping you current on the latest studies and reports. They can provide you with discounts to trade shows, industry magazines, and access to speakers. Some offer scholarships, certificates, network events and educational loans. It's up to you to decide what you want out of an association. Ask other estheticians what associations they belong to and if they are happy with that choice. What do they want out of an association, and contact different groups for information. Most associations charge a yearly fee, so if you aren't happy with one, once you've joined, it's okay to find another. Many people belong to more than on association.
